Red Ribbon Week

Johnson Elementary will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week during October 23rd-27th.  Different activities have been planned for each day.  Show your support and pledge to be DRUG FREE.

Monday--Red Ribbon Kick Off Day....Wear Something Red.
Tuesday--I Can Make Good Choices Day....Camo Day
Wednesday--Drugs and Bullies Make Our Hair Stand On End Day--Fix Your Hair Crazy.

Laurel County Parent Academy

The second annual Laurel County Parent Academy will be held on Thursday, May 11 from 5:30 P.M - 7:30 P.M. at the Laurel County Health Department.  You are invited to attend.  See the attached flier for more information./userfiles/720/my files/learning academy.pdf?id=79408

No School Labor Day

There will not be any school on Monday, September 4th, 2017 due to Labor Day.  Enjoy your day off from school.

PTO Sock Hop

Your child is invited to attend our PTO Sock Hop on Friday, February 10th from 3:30 P.M.  - 5:30 P.M.  The price is $5.  This includes popcorn and a drink.  Pizza will be sold for $1 per slice.  Hope you see you there!

Summer break will begin on May 20th.  Have a great summer!

Open House

We invite you to attend our Open House for students in grades 1st - 5th on Thursday, August 3rd from 5:30 P.M. -7:00 P.M.  Come and meet your child's teacher for the new school year.  

Fall Pictures

Fall Pictures will be taken on Tuesday, October 17th.

Chicken Festival

There will not be any school on Friday, September 22nd due to the Chicken Festival.  Enjoy your day off from school!!

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., there will not be any school on Monday, January 16th, 2017.

Presidents' Day

There will not be any school on Monday, February 20th in honor of Presidents' Day.

High Attendance Day

Wednesday, September 20th will be high attendance day across Kentucky.  Please make an extra effort to send your child to school on this day.  

Back To School

School will begin on Thursday, August 10th.   Welcome Back!!!

Book Fair

You are invited to stop by and shop at our Book Fair on Monday, October 2nd through Friday, October 6th.  You can shop with your child every morning from 7:40 A.M. - 8:15 A.M.  as well as during Breakfast With Parents and Grandparents. We will also be having a Family Event on Friday, September 29th at 3:40 P.M.  If you attend the Family Event, your child will have his/her name entered in a drawing for $100 worth of free books and other prizes.

Thanksgiving Break

Thanksgiving break will begin on Wednesday, November 22nd.  We will return to school on Monday, November 27th.  HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!

Christmas Break

Christmas Break will from December 21st - January 1st.  MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

KPREP TESTING

The KPREP testing will begin on Thursday, May 4 and will end on Wednesday, May 10. 

*Please have your child at school on time each day.
*Help them get a good night's sleep. 
*Make sure they eat breakfast.
*Encourage your child to do his or her best.  
 

Kindergarten Orientation and Open House

Kindergarten Orientation and Open House will be on Thursday, August 3rd beginning at 6:30 P.M.  Parents will need to bring their incoming Kindergarten student because there will be a school tour after orientation is finished. 

Fall Break

There will not be any school on October 19th and 20th due to Fall Break.  Enjoy your days off from school.  

Spring Pictures

Spring Pictures will be on Tuesday, February 28th.  

Preschool Open House

Preschool Open House will be on August 14th at 4:30 P.M - 5:30 P.M in the library.  Adults only due to the amount of paperwork and limited seating.

Christmas Sing Along, Auction and Pictures With Santa

Our Christmas Sing-A-Long, Basket Auction and Pictures With Santa will be on Thursday, November 30th beginning  at 5:00 P.M. Pictures with Santa will be taken from 5:00 P.M. - 6:30 P.M. with refreshments being sold during this time.  The Polar Express Themed Sing-A-Long will start at 6:30 P.M. with the auction.  You are invited to attend.  

Eat Breakfast With Your Child

Parents, Grandparents and Guardians are invited to eat breakfast with their child during the week of October 2nd.  The schedule is below:
Tuesday, October 3--Preschool and Kindergarten.
Wednesday, October 4--1st and 2nd Grade.
Thursday, October 5--3rd, 4th and 5th Grade.

Breakfast will begin at 7:30 A.M. each morning.  Please do not bring in outside food to this event.

 

Pennies For Patients

Students at Johnson Elementary will be collecting pennies for patients that have Lymphoma and Leukemia on November 29th - December 8th. If our school collects $500, the class that collects the most pennies will win a pizza party.  

Parent Teacher Conference and Family Reading Night

Parent Teacher Conference will be on Monday, October 23rd from 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M.  Family Reading Night will be from 4:00 P.M. - 6:30 P.M.  You are invited to attend.

March Character Word Of The Month

Summer Reading

You are invited to bring your child to Summer Reading on June 6, June 13, June 20, June 27, July 11,  and July 18.  Reading will be from 9:00 A.M. - 11:30 A.M.  Students entering first grade must have a parent present with them.  Accelerated Reading points earned during Summer Reading will count toward the 2017-2018 school year.

Any student that earns10 AR points during the summer will be rewarded with a free painting party with Mrs. Riley from the Baroquen Canvas.  The date for the painting party will be held on July 11 at 9:30 A.M.  This activity is sponsored by the Johnson Elementary Family Resource Center.

Family Reading Night and Meet The Eagles

You are invited to attend our Family Reading Night and Meet The EAGLE cheerleaders and ball teams on Thursday, October 5th.  Family Reading will be from 3:45 P.M. - 5:45 P.M. and the introduction of the EAGLES will begin at 6:00 P.M.  Our PTO will be having a concession stand. Come out and show your support for the EAGLES.

PTO Wings and Rings Fundraiser

The Johnson Elementary PTO will be having a fundraiser at Buffalo Wings and Rings on Monday, December 4, 2017.  On this date, a percentage of all food orders will go to help support the students at Johnson Elementary.  Please show your support for our school and eat with us at Buffalo Wings and Rings on December 4th from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.

*48 pencils (#2 lead & no plastic coatings as they do not sharpen in the pencil sharpener)
*2 packs of crayons – 24 pack no larger
*glue sticks (6-8)
*scissors
*pencil pouch (no boxes)
*3 plastic/vinyl 2 pocket folders with the 3- prong insert for paper (The brand 5 Star holds up the best.)
*regular sized backpack
*pencil cap erasers
*2 clear plastic 3-hole punched zipper pencil pouches for use in folders
*2 single subject wide ruled spiral bound notebooks
*pencil box or zipper pouch for supplies
*1 small flashlight

Family Movie Night

You are invited to a Family Movie Night at North Laurel High School on Tuesday, April 11th.  The doors will open at 5:00 P.M. for community partners to share information about events, health, wellness, safety and local opportunities.  The movie will begin at 6:00 P.M.
