Rotary Club of London Visits CFI

Members of the London Rotary Club visited the Laurel County Schools Center for Innovation (CFI) to learn about the school, the programs of study, and the diverse career pathways available for students. Dr. James M. Davis, CFI Principal, provided an informational tour for the Rotarians and a viewing of a promotional video recently produced by the Media Arts Technology students that presented student testimonials and various learning activities that take place at the CFI.

The CFI currently offers career pathways in various programs areas such as Nursing, Biomedical Science, Pharmacy Technician, Medical Administrative Assistant, EKG Technician, Patient Care Technician, Engineering Technician, Electrical Technician, and Videography and Cinematography.  “We are currently exploring opportunities to add Graphic Design, Information Technology, and Emergency Medical Technician,” added Davis.  The programs of study provide students with access to early college credits through established partnerships with various postsecondary institutions such as Eastern Kentucky University, Union College, Hazard Community & Technical College, Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College, and University of the Cumberlands.  “Every program provides students with the opportunity to earn industry recognized career-ready certifications. Our mission is to prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to be college and career ready and to provide students with a 21st century learning environment that utilizes best practices as well as to educate and empower students to become innovative, engaged, and productive citizens in their community and beyond,” said Davis.

“It was an honor to have such a distinguished group of community leaders to visit the CFI and want to learn about our school and our programs,” remarked Davis.  Community members, parents, and students can learn more about the CFI by viewing the promotional video on our official YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Pu65h6j2ss
