CFI Students Learning About Media Industry in Kentucky

Students in the Media Arts Technology (MAT) program at the Laurel County Schools Center for Innovation (CFI) recently heard from Mr. Jay T. Hall, Executive Director, Office of Film and Tourism Development with the Kentucky Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet.  Mr. Hall spoke about the growing demand from movie industry filmmakers to visit and inquire about utilizing the beautiful mountain landscapes, the rolling hills topography, and the culture of “Americana” that is found here in Kentucky in their movies.  “It was great to have Mr. Hall visit and share with the students the diverse jobs that are available and growing in the media arts industry here in Kentucky,” said Mr. Shane Smith, Media Arts

“The utilization of technology and the burgeoning media industry in Kentucky provides an exceptional opportunity for us to help develop a skilled workforce capable of filling those new positions in multi-media companies from commercial print production, social media outlets, video and cinematography, animation, and gaming,” indicated Dr. James M. Davis, CFI Principal.
