CFI Students Provide Technical Support to SLHS Marching Band
Students in the Industrial Maintenance Technology (IMT) program at the Laurel County Schools Center for Innovation (CFI) recently completed the installation of electrical lighting systems in the SLHS Marching Band trailer to help with night equipment storage and retrieval. The students designed, installed, and tested the new electrical lighting system under the direction of Mr. Gary Karr, IMT program coordinator.
“The strong relationship between CFI and South High are bringing real word project collaboration opportunities to our students as they develop their skill sets in construction and electrical fabrication. “It’s great to see those skills obtained at CFI go to work helping the South High marching band program,” remarked Dr. Brandon Hibbard, SLHS Principal.
“This was an important project-based learning experience for the students. Students were able to utilize skills learned in the classroom and labs to complete an electrical systems project that was “real” and meet the “customers” specifications, commented Dr. James Davis, CFI Principal.
