Statement from Superintendent Dr. Doug Bennett regarding 10/25/2017 Incident

This morning a student had what appeared to be a few BB pellets fall out of his pocket during class.  Another student reported this incident involved a weapon.  The London City Police promptly investigated and found no evidence of anything, but a handful of pellets.  During this time, the school was briefly on lockdown.  As always, we continue to place the safety of our students and staff as our priority.

Statement from Superintendent Dr. Doug Bennett Regarding 9/30/2017 Incident

A threat was made by a South Laurel High School student on social media.  Law enforcement was immediately notified and began investigating.  Since then, all parties involved have been identified and law enforcement has taken action.  While there is no evidence to support a viable threat, we continue to take every possible action to ensure the safety and security of our students and staff.

We appreciate the quick and efficient response of the London City Police Department, School Resource Officers and School Administration.  Any and all threats are taken very serious with student safety always being a top priority.  We encourage parents and guardians to talk with their child about the importance of reporting any threat, whether made verbally, physically or through the use of social media to a school official or local law enforcement.  The procedures and protocols put in place by the district and school worked to address and alleviate this alleged concern.

Attention Seniors:  Keith Ritchie from KHEAA will be at SLHS on October 11 to assist students and or parents with the FAFSA form.  Please contact guidance to schedule an appointment.

Lucas Maxey Scores A Perfect Composite Score of 36 ACT Test LucasM

The students and staff at SLHS salute Lucas for this outstanding accomplishment!  According to ACT more than 2 million students took the test in 2017 and only 2,760 students made a perfect score.  On Average, only around one-tenth of 1% of all test takers earn this score. This accomplishment places Lucas in a very prestigious category.  He can expect to be recruited by the nation's top colleges.
