To celebrate Read Across America Week and the birthday of Dr. Seuss we will be having dress up days the week of February 26th-March 2nd. Below are the dress up days.
Monday February 26th- "Cat in the Hat"- Hat Day, wear your favorite hat.
Tuesday February 27th- "Fox in Socks"- Crazy Sock Day, wear your crazy socks.
Wednesday February 28th- "Oh the Places You'll Go"- Career Day, dress up as what you want to be when you grow up.
Thursday March 1st- "Sleep Book"- Pajama Day, wear your pajamas to school.
Friday March 2nd- Favorite Character Day, dress as your favorite Dr. Seuss character.
CONGRATUALTIONS to our Camp Ground Spelling Bee Winners! Jaren Overbey came in 1st place and Reece Weaver came in 2nd place. Both will compete in district spelling bee in January.

Something you want, something you need, something to wear, something to read! Come to our Book Fair. We will be having a 3 day Holiday book fair Wednesday Decmber 6th -Friday December 8th. Students will be able to visit the book fair during school hours those 3 days.
We are seeking out confection creativity for our Gingerbread contest. We will be having a gingerbread house decorating contest from Friday December 1st-Thursday December 7th. Below is a list of rules for the contest:

Our annual Yankee Candle Fundraiser is underway! Please have all orders and money turned in by Wednesday September 12th. Remember the more items you sale the more prizes you will receive. All of the money goes to the Camp Ground PTO, so they can provide things for our students and school.
Derby Day will be Friday May 4th Everyone dress in your fancy clothes and hats and we will celebrate the greatest 2 minutes in sports!
Red Ribbon Week is October 23-27. The following activities will take place during this week.
Monday- Wear red
Tuesday- Crazy hair day
Wednesday- Wear your pajamas
Thursday- Wear your favorite team's jersey.
Friday- Dress in your Halloween costume (costumes must be school appropriate, no masks, weapons or anything that would distract from learning.)

Thursday, September 20th, has been designated state-wide as “High Attendance Day” for Kentucky schools. This day highlights the importance of regular school attendance and the correlation between attendance and student performance. Students who attend class regularly are more likely to keep up with their daily lessons, assignments, and academic achievement.
Awards will be distributed statewide based on each individual school’s attendance percentage. The school in each category (elementary, middle and high) with highest percentage attendance for that day will be awarded $500!
Let’s strive for 100% attendance on Thursday, September 20th and everyday!
K-2 awards will be Friday June 1st at 8:30 am and 3-4 grade awards will be Friday June 1st at 10:00 am. Please enter through the side gym door. Invitations will be sent home if your child is receiving an award.
2018-2019 Camp Ground Open House for Preschool-5th grade will be on Monday August 6th from 4:00pm-6:00 pm. Come out and meet your teacher for the new year!
4th and 5th grade girls and boys basketball and cheerleading tryouts begin on Monday September 10th-Friday September 15th from 3:30-5:00. If you are interested in trying out you must have your physical turned in by Monday September 10th. We will not accept any physicals after this date.
Calling all Veteran's! If you are a veteran we would like to invite you to come and enjoy breakfast and a program put on by our students to honor you and your sacrifice you made for our country. Breakfast will begin at 8:15 am on Thursday November 9th followed by a program in the gym at 9:00am. We hope to see you there.

Our school will be participating in an Egg Drop Friday September 21st to help celebrate the World Chicken Festival. The goal of this project is to design a way to protect a raw egg that will be dropped off the roof of the school to the ground below. Bring your projects to school WITH A RAW EGG IN IT, on Friday September 21st. WE WILL NOT BE PROVIDING AN EGG! We look forward to seeing all the wonderful projects and GOOD LUCK!

Our annual Christmas sing a long will be on Friday December 15th. Kindergarten-2nd grade will perform at 9:00 am and 3rd-5th grade will perform at 10:00 am. Come out and enjoy some holiday music.
Our Camp Ground chicken, "The Faces of Camp Ground," will be at the Chicken Festival next week. Please go and vote for it! The chicken with the most votes will receive money for their school!!
We will be having a Book Character Potato Decorating Contest during Read Across America Week. Students can decorate a potato like a character from one of their favorite books. Please be sure to put your name somewhere on your potato. Potatoes can be brought in beginning on Monday February 26th and the last day to bring them in is Thursday March 1st. Students will vote on their favorite Book Potato on Friday March 2nd.
The top 3 potatoes will receive the following award:
1st Place- $15.00 Book Fair Certificate
2nd Place- $10.00 Book Fair Certificate
3rd Place- $5.00 Book Fair Certificate
Our summer reading program will be different this summer. Due to construction the Camp Ground library will NOT be open this year for students to complete their summer reading packet or take AR tests. I am providing a small summer reading packet that can be done at home and brought back when school starts for a reward. This is optional, students DO NOT have to complete this. It is time for Yearbook orders! Order your full color yearbook for the 2017-2018 school year today! We only have a limited amount ordered and they will be sold on a first come first serve basis, so don't miss our on the opportunity. The cost $25.00, please make check payable to Camp Ground PTO.
We also have 2016-2017 yearbooks on sale for $15.00.
Camp Ground will be having Appalachian Day on Friday October 5th. Students will be participating in lots of fun and interesting activities through out the day. Dress in your favorite Old Fashion or Pioneer clothes.
The PAWS for Books bookfair will be at our school Wednesday March 7th-Friday March 9th. Can't wait to see you there!!

Parent/Teacher Conference will be on Thursday March 8th from 4:10 pm-6:50 pm. A note will be sent home to let you know when you can start making appointments with your child's teacher. You will have until Friday March 2nd to make your appointment. No appointments will be made after this date. The book fair will also be open during this time.
We are planning our annual book character Pumpkin Show. This family project is always a smashing success and we are ready to see what you can come up with this year. Students may bring in a pumpkin decorated like their favorite book or book character. Pumpkins may be dropped off at the library ONLY from October 23-27. There will be 4 categories this year, PreK-1, 2-3, 4-5, and Family. There will be 1 winner from each category. A letter and entry form will be sent home with more details.

Let Your Imagination Grow! The Enchanted Forest Bookfair will be at our school October 8th-12th.
Attention All Grandparent's!! Come enjoy breakfast with your grandchild!! Thursday October 11th and Friday October 12th from 7:30 am- 8:30 am. Cost is $2.25. You will also have an opportunity to visit the Bookfair with your grandchild. The schedule for Breakfast with Grandparent's is below. Please enter through the cafeteria doors.

Camp Ground Library and Camp Ground PTO present the Haunted Library on Monday October 22nd from 5:00-7:00 pm. Come out and join us for a family reading night of spooky storytelling. It will be a little bit scary and a whole lot of fun! There will also be games and candy! You may wear your trick or treat costumes. PTO will be selling homemade chili with drinks and desert. It's $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for students. CAN'T WAIT TO SCARE... I MEAN... SEE YOU THERE!!!
