Thursday, September 20th, has been designated state-wide as “High Attendance Day” for Kentucky schools. This day highlights the importance of regular school attendance and the correlation between attendance and student performance. Students who attend class regularly are more likely to keep up with their daily lessons, assignments, and academic achievement.
Awards will be distributed statewide based on each individual school’s attendance percentage. The school in each category (elementary, middle and high) with highest percentage attendance for that day will be awarded $500!
Let’s strive for 100% attendance on Thursday, September 20th and everyday!

This past year our school has went through a tremendous renovation and the crews are working nonstop to give our students the school they deserve.
On Monday, I will be mailing out a letter explaining procedures for the first few days of school as well as who your child's classroom teacher will be. Once the construction process has been completed I'll contact everyone wth a date for "Meet the Teacher Night."

Students need to be at school, get plenty of rest and eat a good breakfast each morning so they may do their best on the test. GO HAZEL GREEN BULLFROGS!!
4th grade teacher, Mr. Renner, promised his class he would cut off all his hair if they met their goal on the KPREP test taken last Spring. The students followed through on their end of the bargain and today Mr. Renner followed through on his end of the bargain. We think Mr. Renner looks quite DISTINGUISHED... don't you?
2014-2015 KPREP test scores have been released and students and staff at Hazel Green Elementary are thrilled to announce our school scored at the 98th percentile overall. This means Hazel Green is classified as a School of Distinction! We were ranked #32 in the state. Way to go, Bullfrogs!! Hard work and determination make all the difference.
Welcome to another school year at Hazel Green Elementary! We look forward to making this the best school year possible for your child.
This school year, our school will be undergoing several renovations. The Laurel County Board of Education has approved the addition of 3 new classrooms, new restroom facilities and a completely new library. Our school will also be receiving new flooring, new lighting, and new bus loop in the front of our building. So needless to say, we are extremely excited about the changes taking place to our school!
With the improvements to our building, it is necessary that we make several changes to ensure the safety of our students.
At the beginning of the school year, the front of our building will not be accessible. Our front office has been relocated to our Family Resource Center, so, until October, this will be the front entrance to our school. The Family Resource Center will be located in the gymnasium. If you drop your child off each morning, you will need to enter the parking lot using the back bus entrance, rather the one beside our gym. Since our buses will still be required to use this entrance, all traffic will need to move in the same direction.
Parent parking in the afternoons will be limited to only 20 spaces. If you will be picking a middle or high school student up at our school, please remember that we will not have the space to accommodate more than 20 vehicles.
More information will be provided during Open House on August 4th.
