Thursday, September 20th, has been designated state-wide as “High Attendance Day” for Kentucky schools. This day highlights the importance of regular school attendance and the correlation between attendance and student performance. Students who attend class regularly are more likely to keep up with their daily lessons, assignments, and academic achievement.
Awards will be distributed statewide based on each individual school’s attendance percentage. The school in each category (elementary, middle and high) with highest percentage attendance for that day will be awarded $500!
Let’s strive for 100% attendance on Thursday, September 20th and everyday!
Hazel Green is pleased to welcome Mrs. Jen Riley as our new PreK teacher. Mrs. Riley has 16 years of experience working with Laurel County Schools and this will be her 7th as lead teacher. She is excited to meet her new preschool students! Below is a school supply list prekindergarten students will need.
Prek Open House will be Aug 17th from 4 to 5 and will be held in a group style session in the library. Families should plan to arrive at 4 p.m. where we will go through a short powerpoint outlining our school year, supplies, curriculum, procedures, expectations, etc., while we complete beginning of the year paperwork. Students are not required to attend open house. Please plan to stay no longer than an hour. We look forward to meeting everyone August 17th!
The first day for PreK is August 20th!
