Hedrick's Headlines!

Welcome back to school!  I'm so excited about the 2012-2013 school year!  I hope everyone had a great summer!
Wow- I'd like to say how proud I am of all my students on how well they did on their personal narratives this month. I was so impressed! Keep up the good work!

We are planning several things for the months of October and November!

Oct. 4th –Picture Day!!

Oct.8-12 : Book Fair, Family Night is Tuesday, Oct. 9th from 3:30-5:00

Nov.1st Field Trip to Fort Boonesborough- Cost $5.00, dress warm!!

Nov.2nd- Native American Academic Fair

Writing a research paper on their assigned Native American tribe. It must include the following elements of culture. (Habitat, home, dress, food, customs, art, government, and religion)

Summer Challenges will be rewarded the first week of school!
Students will bring home Spelling contracts every Monday.  Their Spelling work will be due on Fridays.  Every Thursday will be their Spelling test.
Completing and returning homework is extremely important and I hope students place it as one of their top priorities.
I really push AR in my class.  I give a monthly AR goal.  Look for those goal sheets to come home at the beginning of each month.  If they've met their AR goal, they'll receive a coupon for a FREE personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut!  I have huge success with this incentive.  I know they can do it!!!

I had 11 students reach their AR goal for the month of September. They were: Chima, Kaylee, Jace, Gage, Kim, Kaden, Emma, Henry, Huyanna, Fischer, Katie   They celebrated with a cupcake party. My class voted to have a pizza party for the students who reach their AR goal for October. You can do it!!!
