Welcome Letter

Welcome Parents,

You can't imagine how excited I am about teaching your child! We are going to have a great time in our class, and we are going to learn so much together. When I say together, I mean all of us...your child, you, and me. Remember we are a team. We will be working together as a team with a common goal. That goal is to educate and nurture your child. Please be involved in your child's studies this year. The rewards for active participation in your child's education are hard to see on a day to day basis, but they will manifest themselves down the road, I assure you. I am looking forward to a stimulating year filled with many successes and rewarding learning experiences! In order to facilitate this goal, it is essential for all of us to work together to ensure that your child reaches his full potential and continues to stay challenged throughout this school year.

During the 2015 - 2016 school year my students will be actively engaged in addressing the academic, behavioral, functional life centered and social goals addressed in their Individual Education Plans. Their curriculum is designed to remediate academic and behavioral deficits, enable successful completion of the elementary course of study for functional students, and facilitate preparation for the next grade level offered in Laurel County. This will be accomplished by using goals and objectives from students’ IEPs and Kentucky curriculum standards. A variety of instructional approaches will be employed to accommodate student diversity. Each student will receive a progress report according to the Laurel County Progress Report .Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time! My door is always open. I can be reached either by phone, e-mail, or through your child's F.I.S.H. Binder in which I will use as a communication log.

I am here for you and your child should you have any questions or concerns. It is my hope that your child has an extremely positive year filled, not only with tremendous academic growth, but a lot of joy and laughter as well! I will do everything I can to make this possible!

 Sincerely,

 Ms. Vanderhoof
