Teaching Your Child

You do not have to be a teacher to give your child the best start possible in school all you have to do is be willing to try!!!
Simple conversation is the most important steps in getting your childs brain alert and receptive to learning.
Ask them about their day and be an active listener!! Build questions on what they say so you have a better understanding of what they are doing and let them know you care.

In the Car:
1.   Ask your child to tell you what letter starts a word.  For example, Say  "Tell me what letter does Apple start with?"  What letter does Banana start with?  You will be amazed they know a lot of them!!   Go though the alphabet and say a word for each letter but be sure to mix it up so that your not going in order because they will catch on quick!!

2.  When you pass a road sign ask them to tell you the letter on the sign.

3   Ask what colors are different objects like a car or a house.

At Home:
1.  Go on a "listening walk" listening to the different sounds in nature.

2. Hunt around your house for a specific letter.

3. Talk about everything being a shape. For example the refrigerator is a triangle and so on.
