Chick Incubation

EGG-citing News!!!

We set our eggs today, Wednesday, March 2, 2016.  In approximately 21 days we will have chicks!!!

The incubator is ready.  Temperature is at 100 degrees and the humidity is above 70%.

I will try to keep this page updated as we progress through the incubation of these eggs and until they become our baby chicks.  So, check back regularly!

Today is March 11, 2016.  We candled our eggs today.  Here's what we saw:

Notice the dark spot at the top. . . it's an eye spot!  The light area near the bottom of the egg is the air sac that the chick will need to survive.

Today is Saturday, March 19. . .day 18 for our eggs!  That means I take the turners out of the incubators and place the eggs on the wire mesh to begin hatching!  The humidity is supposed to be increased to 80% now so our babies can get out of their shells.  I've added extra water, so let's hope the humdiity stays up.  I'll come back tomorrow to check.

We have a baby!!!  It is Tuesday, March 22.  Day 21 of our egg incubation project.  We have a couple more eggs pipping, so we will have more babies soon!
