We are working on:

  • rhyming
  • first, middle and last word in a phrase
  • finding high frequency words a, the, and,go, had, he, I, see, has, you, we, of, in, am, at, to, as, have, is, & it .
  • identifying letters they know. We have covered Aa - Zz.
  • punctuation - we have only covered periods.
  • capital letters - at the beginning of sentences and the beginning of names
  • sounds of s, p, d, a, h, t, n, l, i, b & c
  • words with same initial (beginning) sound.
  • words with same final (ending) sound.
  • syllables  
  • blending words (using sound by sound blending)


  • High frequency words - can, his, him, on, did, girl, for, but, up, all, look, with, her, what, was, were, said, that, down, they
  • sounds of letters o, r, g, j, f, u, x, z, w, k, e, q, y, v, long a, long i, long o, & long u.
