1st grade teacher
Hi! My name is Karen Vance, and I am a 1st grade teacher at Wyan-Pine Grove Elementary School. I was originally born in Philadelphia, PA. I was raised in North Wildwood, NJ, and later became a teacher at the school I attended as a child. I earned my teaching degree in 1993 at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ. I then continued on to earn my Master's Degree in special education at Union College in Barbourville, KY. In 2010, I earned my Rank I in Literacy through the National Board of Certified Teachers.
I have been married to my husband Jack for 22 years. We enjoy boating with our family, and we have been blessed with 2 beautiful children. Jack is 20 years old, and he is a sophomore at EKU this year. Katie is 16 years old, and she started 11th grade this year. She's active in soccer, cross country, and track.
We have 1 dog. Daisy is a naughty 12 year old Welsh Corgi that we bought from a farm in Liberty, KY.
As far as personal interests are concerned, I love to go camping. (especially at Fort Wilderness in Disney World) I also like to ride horses, read mystery novels, build LEGO, watch Jurassic Park movies, go to concerts (especially Imagine Dragons) with my daughter, decorate cakes and cupcakes, and travel.
