Introduction -
I probably am a familiar face to many of you because I have been at South Laurel Middle School for 24 years.  I have three children.   My 28 year old daughter, Megan, is a graduate of Western Kentucky University.  I also have twins, Coby and Cara,  who are graduates of SLHS.  I have taught language arts, drama, reading and am currently teaching 7th grade social studies.  I attended Georgetown College, Union College, and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University.  My Rank I was completed in the summer of 2012.   I am the sponsor of the Teens Who Care Club at SLMS.  heart

Course Description/Syllabus: This class will cover the core content for assessment for 7th grade social studies. We will begin by reviewing basic geographical terms and map skills. Next, we will be studying the development of ancient humans and the earliest ancient cultures and civilizations. Some of the cultures we study will include Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic cultures; Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, India, Greece, and Rome. Also, we will examine the Middle Ages and the Age of Exploration up to the discovery of the New World and colonization. While the main focus will be on historical perspective, students will also continue geography skills practice, economics, culture and government studies.
