Bush Students Graduate from the DARE Program
We would like to congratulate our 5th grades students here at Bush for graduating from the 2012-2013 DARE program. We would also like to thank Officer Charlie Loomis for his hard work and dedication toward the achievement of these goals. We also like to recognize three students whose essys were selected as the winning DARE essay for their class.

Bush Wins the Decorated Chicken Contest
WOOOO HOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! WE WON!!!!! Our Bush chicken won the "People's Choice" category by receiving the most amount of votes for favorite decorated chicken at this year's Chicken Festival. As a result, Bush has won the $500 grand prize. Also, we would like to cogratulate our Preschool for placing 2nd in the "People's Choice" category. Their chicke n also won the "Best in Show" category. Thanks to all of you that voted and worked on both chickens and helped make these wins possible. We are so very proud of our little blue devils and our blue devil fans! GO BUSH!

Sock Hop

Bush Archery Team Qualifies for Worlds
Congratulations to the Bush Archery Team!
We are pleased to announce that the Bush Elementary Archery team has qualified to compete at the 2013 NASP World Archery Tournament. On Friday, May 10th the Bush archery team competed at the 2013 NASP National Achery Tournament that was held in Louisville, KY. We are very excited about our team and their performance. In fact, we shot our all-time best score and surpassed our team goal of 3,000 points. We shot a score of 3,046...not bad for a first year archery team. Way to go guys. We are so very proud of you!

Parents, it is very important that our students get plenty of rest each night as well as eat a good breakfast each morning so that they may do their best on the test. Remember that attendance, especially this time of year, is very important. So, if at all possible, please make sure that your child is present. Also, please talk with your child about the importance of testing and encourage them to do their best. We are very proud of their efforts and we know that they are going to do great!

Students Win Prizes at Bush
On Wednesday, May 15th, Bush recognized all students who made the Principal's List, Honor Roll, and Perfect Attendance list. These students were treated to a pizza party and students were given the chance to win numerous prizes. We would like to thank the Falls Auto Group for their donation. Congratulations to Matthew Clark and Emma Thompson for winning the BIG prize. Have fun riding those bikes this summer and be careful! Jomo K. Thompson's Big Blue Cheer and Dance Challenge
The 2013 Big Blue Cheer and Dance Challenge will take place on January 12th @ NLHS gym. This event is open to all school and all-star cheer and dance teams. The doors will open @ 9:00 AM. The Admission is $10 and children 5 and under are FREE. All proceeds will benefit the NLHS Cheerleaders. The University of Kentucky Cheerleaders will perform at this year's event. UK will exhibition their 2013 Nationals routine @ approximately 11:00 AM.

Bush Book Clubs
Come and join Mrs. Vaughn in the library one day per week starting in January. Hurry...spaces are limited!

These clubs were auctioned at this year's Fall Auction. However, there are a few spaces left. The cost is $20. This money will be donated to the PTO. Book clubs will meet starting in January and will last until the book or books being used are complete. Each club will meet 1 day per week until all book club activities have been completed!

Bush Earns Another Achievement
The National Center for Educational Achievement (NCEA), a department of ACT, Inc., recognized Bush Elementary School as a 2012 NCEA Higher Performing School. Bush received Higher Performing (HP) recognition in the areas of Math and Science. Congratulations to our school!

Parent-Teacher Conference
We will host our first Parent-Teacher Conference for the 2012-2013 school year on Tuesday, October 16th from 4:00-7:00 PM. In order to accomodate all of our parents, parents will be given a specific time to meet with their child's teachers. See your child's teacher in order to dicuss these matters.

We would like to thank those of you who participated in our Family Reading Night event. We would also like to thank those of you who helped put this event together as well as those who worked to make it a success. We really enjoyed meeting everyone that came out. PTO Fundraiser...A Huge Success!
Bush PTO would like to thank all students, staff, parents, and our community for helping us make our Olympic Clean Car Wash Fundraiser a HUGE success. Students sold more than 1800 car wash tickets! We would also like to congratulate and recognize several students for their participation and efforts throughout the fundraiser.
