Program Overview

Laurel County Preschool Programs are located in each of our elementary schools. Children ages 3 or 4 by August 1st may be eligible for preschool services in one of our classrooms.

Preschool services are available for all four-year-old children whose family income is no more than 160% of poverty; all three and four-year-old children with identified disabilities or speech delays, regardless of income.

The preschool program is designed to be developmentally appropriate for young children.  “Developmentally appropriate” is defined in law to mean that the program focuses on the child’s physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development.

Year-round registration is available, due to the COVID-19 pandemic our preschool screening dates have been postponed and will be rescheduled to a later date.   Once screening dates have been made, you will receive a phone call to schedule a screening appointment for you child.  The first step is to submit a preschool application.  Applications can be picked up either in the vestibule at the Garland Building (located behind London Elementary) or can be sent home by regular mail.  If you would like an application mailed to you, please contact Michele Prichard at 606-862-4608 and provide her your mailing address.

Please note if your child turns 4 on or before August 1, you will need to request a 4- year- old application.  If your child turns 4 after August 1, you will need to request a 3-year- old application.  If you have any questions about registration, please Call Mrs. Prichard at the above number, she will be happy to assist.
