Colony Elementary Receives Two Grants for Library

Congratulations to Colony Elementary on receiving two grants for their library.  Colony Elementary received a $10,000 grant from the KFC Foundation and an additional $2,500 from local KFC franchise owner JRN!
Officials from the KFC Foundation, JRN, and management from the London KFC restaurant surprised Colony Elementary librarian Betsy York with two check presentations.
Colony Elementary was selected out of fifty-five grant applications.  The funds will go toward the renovation of the Colony Elementary Library, including the installation of regional Appalachian artwork and student artwork.  New tables, a two-sided magnetic whiteboard, new signage, and an expanded reading area.  Additionally, an outdoor reading area will be created with a waterproof bookshelf and seating installed.
The London KFC provided lunch to the staff at Colony Elementary, and the KFC Foundation provided stickers for all students at Colony Elementary.
Congratulations to Colony Elementary on receiving these two grants!
