Description:

This course is designed for the beginning student in NJROTC. The course of instruction includes the history and background of the NJROTC Program, mission and goals, activities and benefits of the program and career planning. It includes extensive leadership training, lessons on citizenship, the role of our government as well as the student's role in government. Other lessons include study of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, national defense, and the history of the flag. Cadets will learn about the mission of Navy ships and aircraft, ship terminology, and how to identify Navy ships and aircraft. They will also receive training in health, wellness, and first aid.  Student's will receive training in physical fitness and military drill. Activities include color guard training, drill teams, academic team, physical fitness competition, air rifle training, orienteering and participate in parades and fund-raisers, and have the opportunity to go on at least one field trip.
