South Laurel High School welcomes Mrs. Amanda Bretz as their newest Assistant Principal!
Mrs. Bretz began her career at Clay County Public Schools, where she served as a Moderate to Severe Exceptional Child Instructor. She continued that career in Laurel County Public Schools until she became a district-level teacher leader in 2021. While she was an Exceptional Child instructor at South Laurel High School and Hunter Hills Elementary, she was named SESC’s Spotlight Teacher and established a model classroom for the Laurel County School District and SESC region.
Mrs. Bretz currently holds certifications in the following areas:
· Education Specialist in Education Administration and Education Leadership, School Principal (P-12) from Eastern Kentucky University
· Director of Special Education (Level 1) from Georgetown College
· Rank I in Moderate to Severe Disabilities from the University of Kentucky
· Master's in Learning and Behavior Disorders from the University of Cumberlands
· Bachelor's degree in Education from Eastern Kentucky University
When Mrs. Bretz is not at school, she enjoys spending time with her husband Ryne and three daughters, camping, and supporting them in their various extracurricular activities.
