Laurel County Public Schools is aware of a recent nationwide Associated Press article raising concerns about Shutterfly Lifetouch School Photography and student privacy.
Shutterfly Lifetouch, LLC is an approved photography vendor available to school districts through Kentucky’s Model Procurement Code competitor bid list for the 2025–2026 school year.
At this time:
Middle and high schools do not schedule spring photo sessions.
Elementary schools currently have spring photo sessions scheduled in the coming weeks.
Parents or guardians of elementary students who do not wish for their child’s school picture to be taken should contact their child’s school directly.
Lifetouch Group CEO Ken Murphy has issued a statement addressing what the company describes as misinformation regarding the alleged sharing of school files. Lifetouch has assured school districts that no student photographs have been distributed to third parties.
