Laurel County Public Schools was informed overnight about an out-of-state juvenile who threatened a South Laurel High School student. The individual who made the threat has been detained out of state, and at no point was there an active threat on the South Laurel High School campus.
Out of an abundance of caution, Laurel County Public Schools Police Chief Jessie Williams coordinated with the London Police Department and the Laurel County Sheriff's Office to increase law enforcement presence on our high school campuses. Laurel County Schools considers the safety and well-being of our students and staff as the top priority. Our goal is to ensure a safe, educationally conducive environment for all.
