Mrs. Shepherd's Preschool class at London Elementary learned about polar bears and how they keep warm in freezing temperatures. The students had a great time participating in a hands-on activity that allowed them to test their knowledge.
Biomedical students at the Laurel County Schools Center for Innovation stepped into the shoes of healthcare professionals as they role-played Dr./Patient scenarios! This fantastic opportunity allowed students to develop essential skills for effective and respectful communication in a clinical setting.
Students learned the importance of empathy while working with patients, recording comprehensive medical histories for fictional patients, and honing their listening skills to interpret verbal and nonverbal cues.
Kim Jones, the Gifted and Talented Coordinator for Laurel County Schools, recently met with the Laurel County Youth Leadership Council to discuss goal setting. Students wrote letters to their future selves during the meeting, which will be returned to them upon graduation. They also enjoyed games, made candy salad, and engaged in discussions about servant leadership within the community.
