The Eagle choir did an excellent job representing our school at the Laurel County Public Schools Red, White, and Blue review on Monday at TownCenter Park. They were the finale act and lead the attendees in a beautiful rendition of My Old Kentucky Home.

Congratulations to all the Eagles who met their I-Ready reading and math goals this year! They enjoyed their Water Day celebration!

Congratulations are in order for our Eagle choir, who recently traveled to Kings Island for the Music in the Parks program. While there, the choir achieved an excellent rating and placed first in their class!

Mrs. Ledington, Mrs. Maggard, Mrs. Bailey, Mrs. Bullard, and Mrs. Sprinkle enjoyed celebrating the phenomenal effort and citizenship their 4th and 5th grade students have shown this year during today's awards program. These Eagles are amazing!

Our third graders were in the spotlight with their Awards Day at 8:40. Mrs. Storm and Mrs. Morgan were happy to have the opportunity to honor the hard work and amazing effort of their students.

Our Eagles spent this school year reading some incredible books. They were challenged to log 250,000 minutes of reading on Beanstack, and they definitely delivered. Their current count is over 406,000 minutes! Their reward? Duct taping Mr. Hensley to the gym wall!

Our Eagles had a great time at yesterday's school dance! Thank you, families, for sending your kids and supporting our PTO fundraising!

As we begin our content area KSA testing today, Johnson Elementary would like to recognize the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students who made last year's testing a success. These Eagles truly soared on the 2025 test assessments and were recently rewarded with an award ceremony and catered spaghetti lunch. Keep working hard, Eagles, and good luck with this year's KSA!

Our Eagle fifth graders created and raced zipline thoroughbreds in honor of today's Run for the Roses. Jansen Noe won the overall zipline Derby. Adaleigh Johnson was runner up. Great job, everyone!

Our Eagles had a fantastic Friday cheering on the kindergarteners (and even some staff!) in the first annual Johnson Derby. Students all over the building had a blast taking part in activities such as creating hats, designing silks, learning to play the Call to Post on classroom instruments and with voice, eating a delicious Derby Day breakfast, and enjoying pie and mint punch.

Students in grades K-5 who met the 2,000 minute Beanstack reading challenge this year celebrated with a recent trip to Zoo Knoxville. Great job, Eagles! Keep reading!

During Mrs. Hodge's art class, second and third grade students had a blast preparing these perspective projects based on their favorite scene from the book The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. This was a multiple session culminating project that was tied in to the school's One School One Book initiative.

Johnson K-4 students celebrated reading by designing bookmarks! During Mrs. Hodge's art class, students generated multiple bookmark ideas, then chose one to refine for submission into the 2026 bookmark contest. Take a peek at our winners from each grade!

Kindergarten and first grade students in Mrs. Hodge's art class jumped into spring by creating their very own Van Gogh inspired vases of flowers. Students designed their own tables and backgrounds on which to place the flowers. The flowers and vases were made by cutting various shapes from premade 'painted' papers in different color schemes and then gluing them onto the background.

This week, our third grade teachers collaborated with Ms. Young from our Family Resource Center to teach their students about electricity and electrical circuits. The kids really enjoyed the hands-on experience of creating complete circuits using snap circuit kits.

Mrs. Ledington's class has had a great time learning about angles. Students designed their own zoo layouts by measuring and sketching angles using protractors. They placed their enclosures at specific angle measures to practice how to measure and draw angles in whole-number degrees. This activity aligns with KY.4.MD.6 by helping students apply protractor skills in a creative, real-world context.
